CCIE Journey Update

I normally post updates about my journey using Twitter, but I have decided to post a quick update using my blog this time around. On March 21, 2012, I tweeted about taking the CCIE Written exam during the Cisco Live 2012 event. I’ve rescheduled this exam several times because of the sessions that I really want to take, but I think this time I’ll stick to this schedule. The exam schedule still overlaps with one session that I am taking, but I think I can be late on the session. This will be my first time at Cisco Live so I don’t even know if being late is acceptable. I missed out on last year’s Cisco Live since I gave my two weeks notice one week before it. I could’ve pushed my two weeks notice after the event, but that’s just plain taking advantage of the company. Anyway, the written exam has been scheduled on June 12, 2012 at 2:45PM. Make sure to say hi if you’re going to be in the same area as I am.

Am I ready for the exam? To be honest, I am still not ready. I still have 4 chapters to go with the CCIE R&S Certification Guide book and still need to review on a lot of chapters that I am weak on. I’ve been saying to myself that I need to dedicate time and concentrate on the task, but it has been hard to concentrate. My mind always wander whenever I pick up the book. Am I burned out from studying? Possibly. Am I giving up? Sometimes I feel like giving up. Especially when I see more experienced network guys fail their lab exam. One thing I am certain, I’ve stretched this book so far out than I would’ve liked.

Wish me luck on the exam. I am going to need it.

Good luck! I think Cisco Live is a great time to take the exam. Especially if you’ll be sitting in on some sessions.

You better get cracking on those chapters.
